Wenchuan garden at 2011 Xi'an International Horticultural Expo opens

Thursday, on the third anniversary of what is known as the Wenchuan Earthquake, which devastated Wenchuan county in 2008, the only county-level park at the 2011 Xi'an International Horticultural Expo opened.

Zhang Tongrong, head of Wenchuan county and Dong Jun, executive vice mayor of Xi'an Municipal People's Government attended the ceremony, at which they also delivered one speech each. Zhang gave a brief introduction of the park to guests, saying it will show the results of the county’s reconstruction post disaster and its (county)’s traditional culture.

Songs and dances of traditional “Qiang” culture were performed at the opening ceremony. The county’s week will last from May 12 to May 15.

The Xi'an International Horticultural Expo is being held from April 20, 2011 to October 22, 2011 (178 days) at the Guangyun Lake, Chanba Ecological District, Xi'an. The expo's theme is "Eternal peace & harmony between nature & mankind, nurturing the future earth – a city for nature, co-existing in peace", and the slogan: "green leads the trend".
