CNPC, Gazprom sign pact on gas exports

China National Petroleum Corp., parent of PetroChina, has signed a framework agreement with Russia's Gazprom on gas exports to China, according to an Oct. 14 statement on its Web site.
The export agreement coincides with a visit to China by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, during which Rosneft, Russia's largest oil company, and CNPC also signed a memorandum of understanding on upstream and downstream cooperation.
The two companies will build a refinery and retail distribution network close to Beijing.
