Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines Chekib Khelil said Sunday that Algeria will increase its gas exports by nearly half in the coming five years, Algeria's News Agency (APS) reported.

Khelil said the country is to increase gas exports by 30 billion cubic meters within the coming five years, with estimated annual revenue of 5 billion US dollars.

The minister said in a televised interview that Algeria currently exports around 62 billion cubic meters of gas to foreign markets every year.

He added that Algeria's plan to increase its gas exports includes operating Medgaz pipeline linking Algeria to Spain and Galsi pipeline that will connect Algeria and Italy.

The plan also includes increasing the gas export of 7 billion cubic meters through TransMed pipeline which delivers Algerian gas to Italy and Slovenia via Tunisia.
