Vietnam adjusts import tariffs on some electric equipment

Vietnam's Ministry of Finance decided to adjust import tariffs on some electric products, the local newspaper Vietnam Economic Times reported Wednesday.

Electric equipment having capacity from 10,000 kilovolt-ampere (kVA) to 15,000 kVA and from 15,000 kVA to 20,000 kVA will be imposed import tax of 20 percent instead of the previous five percent.

Meanwhile, import tax of transformer and current transformer will be reduced from 28 percent to 20 percent.

The new tax rate will be effective as of August 17, 2009.
