Singapore has launched an integrated service-apartment development targeted at infocomm and media professionals, the country's leading industrial landscape developer JTC Corporation said on Thursday.
The 50-unit, all loft one-bedroom serviced apartments, which named Fraser Place Fusionopolis, are located in the Fusionopolis at one-north, a 200-hectare vibrant hotspot for infocomm and media, science and engineering industries.
Developed by JTC Corporation and Frasers Hospitality, these unit come in a variety of configurations ranging between 46 square meters and 99 square meters.
Each loft apartment unit comprises a living room, fully equipped kitchen, dining room on one level, with a staircase that leads up to the bedroom.
Each unit is also equipped with a comprehensive surround-sound home entertainment system, iPod docking station, game console and WiFi phone. Guests are also entitled to use the guest lounge sky-garden cafe and full facilities of gymnasium including the roof-top swimming pool.
"They are the 'live' component of Fusionopolis, the first integrated work-live-play-learn development of one-north," the JTC said, adding that" the residences are designed to complement the lifestyle of personnel involved in the complex, the fast-paced world of research and development, new media, science and engineering industries."
The launch of the service apartments is in line with Singapore's strategy to boost the development of the infocomm and media industry.
The Singapore government announced in June the Media Fusion Plan, which aims to strengthen the media ecosystem, fuel the creation of innovative content and services with global appeal and attract a critical mass of world-class talents to support a thriving industry.
According to official data, as of 2006, Singapore's media sector contributed 5 billion Singapore dollars (about 3.4 billion U.S. dollars) value-added and 19.5 billion Singapore dollars (about 13.4 billion U.S. dollars) revenue to the economy, employing over 54,700 people.
JTC Corporation is the lead agency in Singapore to plan, promote and develop a dynamic industrial landscape, in support of the nation's economic advancement. Currently, the Corporation has under its management many developments including four wafer fab parks, an advanced display park, two business parks, a chemicals hub at Jurong Island, biomedical parks in Tuas as well as logistics hubs for aerospace, chemical and general warehousing industries.
