S Korea registers nine-year low consumer price growth in July

South Korea has registered a nine-year low consumer price growth in July mainly due to drop in fuel prices, a government report said Monday.

According to the report released by the National Statistical Office (NSO), the consumer price index (CPI) had an annual growth of 1.6 percent in July, the lowest growth since May 2000 when the CPI posted an advance of 1.1 percent.

The slow CPI mainly resulted from the 20.9 percent negative growth in fuel prices, an official at the NSO said.
