Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday on overnight fall on the Wall Street.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the benchmark Nikkei-225 index lost 95.60 points, or 0.90 percent, from Tuesday to 10,489.86 after a four-day rally.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 9.64 points, or 0.99 percent, to 963.87. The Second Section also lost ground.
