US new ambassador starts his term

President Obama will visit China for the first time in mid-November, the new US ambassador to China Jon Huntsman said on August 22 during his first appearance in front of Chinese media.

Huntsman, a Republican and former governor of Utah, introduced his family members to reporters in Chinese, indicating that families are important in both countries.

The ambassador said he will strive for a better-than-ever relationship between the United States and China.

Huntsman has served in both Bush administrations, as ambassador to Singapore and deputy trade ambassador.
