Indonesia's 2nd largest state bank posts 23% net profit growth in H1

Indonesia's second largest state-run bank, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), posted a 3.492 trillion rupiah (about 346.9 million US dollars) of profit in the first half this year, 23 percent higher than 2.818 trillion rupiah (about 279.9 million dollars) in the corresponding period last year, the bank's financial report said on Monday.

According to the report, the bank's interest rate income increase in the period has significantly contributed to its net profit growth.

The bank's booked interest rate revenue was 16.840 trillion rupiah (about 1.6 billion dollars) in the first half this year, higher than the same period of last year, that stood at 13.208 trillion rupiah (about 1.3 billion dollars).

The bank that particularly serves low-middle class business in the country raked 10.931 trillion rupiah (about 1.08 billion dollars) of net profit in the period. That figure was higher than it was in the same period last year that stood at 9.547 trillion (about 948.5 million dollars).
