APEC CEO Summit opens in Singapore

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO summit, with the theme of "Rebuilding the Global Economy: Crisis and Opportunity" opened Friday in Singapore. Over 1,000 of the world's top leaders are converging in Singapore to meet with APEC economic leaders.
Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong delivered a keynote address, saying "We live in a significant moment as the global economy is emerging from the crisis, therefore stabilizing economy and maintaining confidence is vital."
Chinese President Hu Jintao will also deliver a speech at the meeting. He will introduce the policies and measures that China adopted to cope with the financial crisis and give suggestions on cooperating among the countries in Asia-Pacific region and opinions on boosting global economic growth and reviving the world economy.
Seven other world leaders, including Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono are expected to speak at the 2009 CEO Summit
This summit, which started in 1996, is an international forum that provides a platform for interaction among leaders of the most powerful nations in the Asia-Pacific region. The annual summit is the biggest event of the business community in the Asia-Pacific region.
